Hyperactivity in Gifted Children

As  parents and teachers, we may notice that some gifted children are fidgety, restless, and get easily bored. They may have trouble sitting still, or staying quiet when needed. They may rush through things and make careless mistakes. They may climb, jump, or roughhouse when they shouldn’t. And Without meaning to, they may act in ways which are disturbing for others.

We casually label these children as Hyperactive. In this episode of Being Gifted,  let’s understand in detail about hyperactivity, what are the root causes, how is it related to giftedness and most importantly how to handle it?

Today we are joined by Ms. Mukta Jatkar, a qualified special educator with more tha 25+ years of experience. She has pursued her B.Ed. in special education from SNDT University, Mumbai and a Masters of Science in Education with specialization in Learning Disabilities from the University of Kansas, U.S.A. She is also an alumnus of Tata Institute of Social Sciences.
